After an extremely positive response from members when the Borough of Broxbourne’s leisure facilities benefited from over £80,000 worth of Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) Life Fitness equipment a year ago, the council has decided to order more CPO Cross-Trainers and Upright Lifecycles for the John Warner Sports Centre later this year.As well as more CPO equipment in the pipeline for John Warner, the council’s other facility, Grundy Park Leisure Centre, is currently undergoing a £125,000 refurbishment which includes new air conditioning, ceiling and flooring. It is anticipated that this will be completed in April 2007.
Broxbourne Council originally refurbished Grundy Park Leisure Centre in 2004 and the John Warner Sports Centre in 2005, and awarded the contract to supply equipment to Life Fitness. Under the terms of the agreement over £80,000 worth of Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) equipment was installed across the two sites.
Grundy Park Leisure Centre in Cheshunt features a 120-station ‘Fit & Well’ gym, kids gym, sports hall, 25m swimming pool, two studios, two squash courts, health suite with spa, sauna, steam and aromatherapy room, bar and café, as well as a floodlit Astroturf pitch. The John Warner Sports Centre in Hoddesdon is a dual use site with the John Warner School. It has a ‘Fit & Well’ Gym, dance studio and squash court, together with outdoor facilities which include an artificial pitch and two grass football pitches.
Ian Clarke, Business Development Manager for Broxbourne Council, said: “We chose to install Life Fitness CPO equipment for three main reasons; practicality, price and user friendliness. We wanted to pick the most appropriate range for our members, and knowing our customer base at each of the centres, we felt that CPO best suited their needs and requirements, particularly as it is so easy to use. The feedback we have received from members has been excellent.”
Ian added: “I have worked with Life Fitness before and have always been very pleased with the after sales service I have received. It’s not just about provision of equipment, Life Fitness can help with other areas of a project too, for example, at the John Warner Sports Centre they advised us on facility design and layout in order to maximise the space available.”
